Monkey Combat Admin Pouch
Labels:
Maxpedition Gear
The Monkey Combat Admin Pouch (MCAP) is a collaboration between MilspecMonkey and Maxpedition. A real upgrade on the standard admin pouch which is mostly for carrying paperwork and other small flat items. This pouch will carry all of your essential gadgets and other small items in one organized package.
The overall size of the MCAP is 7" x 6.5" x 1.5". The depth compresses down when not in use via elastic on the sides, which can also hold pens, knives, etc. The pouch is kinda large if you're used to a thin admin pouch, but if organized storage is what you want this is the pouch for you.
Outside
Starting on the outside, as I said above, there is elastic on the sides for compression and added storage.
The back is covered in webbing for mounting using MALICE clips, A.L.I.C.E. clips, or TacTies.
The front of the MCAP has velcro for attaching name tapes, patches, etc. This Velcro is very durable and tough. You'll notice a pull tab in this area. Pulling this tab downward reveals a plastic covered map case. This area opens at the top using velcro and can not only be used for maps but is also great for ID. This way it can be opened quickly to display the ID and velcroed back up to hid it. The anti-glare plastic covering the map pouch is very tough and can be used with China markers or dry/wet erase markers without problem.
Behind the ID/map panel there is a small horizontal sleeve opening. Not designed this way, but just an extra area to slide items behind that is a result of the way the map/ID panel is stitched on. This is good for sliding a small sheathed knife behind.
The main flap covering the pouch also has velcro on it and provides good bite when closing, but isn't too hard to open when you need to get to your goods.
Inside (starting from the back)
Along the back of the pouch there is a sleeve that is the size of the pouch. It's good for paperwork.
Moving forward is what I call the main compartment which I call this because it's the larger of the compartments. This compartment has elastic running along the front and back of it that is divided into three sections for holding items such as magazines and other similar sized items . This elastic is strong and doesn't wear out easily. The bottom of this area also has a drain hole.
Moving forward is what milspec monkey calls the "high security" pocket. This is because the top of this area is completely sealed closed with 1 inch velcro. To help in opening this pouch there are 2 pull tabs at the top. This area is great for anything you definitely don't want to lose. It's not going to accidentally open.
In front of the "high security" area is yet another pocket. This one is similar to the main compartment only narrower. It only has elastic on the back side as well. Due to it being narrower it wouldn't make sense to have elastic on both sides as you wouldn't be able to fit that much in there.
Forward of that pouch is a shallow pouch that is only a couple inches deep. This is great for smaller items that would be hard to fish out of the bottom of one of the full length compartments. I use this for batteries, chapstick, and other small items.
This "admin" pouch is absolutely great for organization. The only thing I noted as a possible negative is the velcro. If noise discipline is a must you wouldn't want any of your mission essential items in it for use when you must remain stealthy. MilSpec Monkey thought of this and in collaboration with Tactical Tailor, created a stealth version which uses zippers instead of velcro. This pouch has taken a beating and, aside from some dirt, is in excellent condition!! The quality and features are excellent. A must have for organization!
