Aquamira Filter Bottle

This bottle by Aquamira is a quality 22oz. Nalgene bottle that has a filter system that is placed between the bottle and the sport top. It uses a thick walled porous plastic microbiological filter which traps 99.9% of Giardia, Cryptosporidium and other pathogens that will make you sick. The activated carbon reduces waterborne chemicals and improves water taste. The filter also has Miraguard Anitmicrobial technology to help prevent the growth of bacteria, algae, fungus, mold and mildew within the filter itself. The nice thing about all this technology is that the bottle is just fill and go. You don't have to worry about anything complex or any wait times. You just fill it up and put the filter and top on and drink straight from the bottle.

The bottle has a push/pull drinking valve and a flip cap to keep the valve clean. I've found that the push/pull valve is kind of loose in that it sometimes closes up when you're trying to drink from it. This is only a minor inconvenience, but one I thought I should note.

The flow of water isn't as good as you'd find with a bottle that has no filter due to the water having to travel through the filter material. In an emergency situation this shouldn't be a big problem, because you're still getting uncontaminated water. The flow does improve slightly as the filter gets saturated with water, but not much. Again, it's a small compromise to get clean water from potentially contaminated water.

I have used this bottle on several occasions and have experienced no ill effects due to drinking dirty water from this bottle. It seems to do it's job pretty good. The included, replaceable filter will filter 50 gallons of water (230 refills). And all you have to do when you get done is let the bottle and filter dry out and you're good to go to store it.

You can also remove the filter and use the water bottle without it when you know you already have clean water.

This is a great product to add to your hiking gear, car trunk, survival pack, etc, etc since water means life and fresh water means life without illness.

One thing to note is that it is suggested that you use Aquamira water treatment drops or purification tablets to get the best results.
