Kole Gear Hydration Pack

This is a hydration pouch from a company called Kole Gear. They have a different take on the hydration bladder. The bladder is more like a heavy duty balloon instead of a bladder.

I wouldn't recommend this pack for hard use as the bladder is somewhat fragile when it comes to pressure being applied to it. I had one break by just placing it in the pack. The idea is unique, but for hard use I wouldn't use this pack. Also, the way of filling the pack requires extra equipment. Maybe it'd be a little more convenient if this equipment could be made more compact to be able to pack it in the pack to be able to bring with you. You have to fill a bottle, then use a hand pump system to fill the bladder. Maybe if the pump system was made smaller and the bottle exchanged for a collapsible bottle, like a platypus bottle this might make it easier to fill on the go. Check out the video for all the details...

MSRP: $64.00

It looks and sounds like a nice concept but I think the company needs to do a little more R and D. It might be a nice pack for an afternoon hiker but seems to have a lot of draw backs for a serious hiker. broken balloons, latex taste, bottle , yuck

Agreed that this is a day hike or very short hiking pack. If they could get the bladder to be tasteless and more durable, and maybe a more portable system for refilling it might be a good upgrade to the system.

I think the balloon concept isn't as flexible as flat hydration bladders, but full marks to them for trying something different.

Good concept but could use some refining. Just doesn't look ready for use in the field yet.

I am fed up with my hydration pack as i find difficulty in cleaning it. Also it starts smelling because it doesn't get cleaned completely.
